Ahmed Khalil has over 38 years of process safety and fire prevention experience in the oil refining industry. He was educated in the United Kingdom and received a MSc. in Risk Management and Safety Technology from Aston University.
Ahmed is a member of the Bahrain Health & Safety Council, Bahrain Health and Safety StandardizationCommittee, the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) EHS Committee, and the BAPCO Environment, and Health & Safety Committee. Internationally he is a board member with the RW Campbell Institute in the US, the GCC National Oil Companies EHS Committee, and the SPE HSE Committee. Ahmed chairs the committee responsible for reviewing and updating Bahrain H&S standards.
Ahmed has many accreditation and vocational qualifications in PSM, HAZOP, Taproot Investigations, OHSAS 18001 as well as OSHA based qualifications. Ahmed published many papers and presentations covering HSE issues and presented many at national and international conferences and safety events.
Ahmed has some exceptional experience in developing Operational Excellence Systems and integrating PSM into the company management systems. He has an impressively long list of achievements at BAPCO, in Bahrain and internationally.
He is married with children and lives in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
